Job Description: Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000 Job Type: Full Time/Hybrid Worker Designation -This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Columbia, SC for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership. Advanced knowledge of claims systems and processing Broad understanding of human resources laws, regulations, policies, and procedures Knowledge of medical terminology . Strong personal computer skills and experience with Windows-based software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, mathematical, and reasoning skills Excellent presentation, oral, written, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact and negotiate with internal/external customers and senior management, and the ability to maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards Education & Experience Required Bachelor's Degree In business or a related field 4 years of job-related work experience 3 years in a leadership/senior/supervisory capacity Or an equivalent combination of education and experience Education & Experience Preferred Industry designations such as FLMI or ALHC Travel None Required Principal Duties & Responsibilities Motivates, coaches, and develops the claims operations team; provides consistent and constructive feedback to employees; trains, develops, or identifies employees' training and resource needs; maintains employee personnel records regarding to performance and attendance; establishes priorities; schedules daily work, and monitors the quality and quantity of work performed by the unit and the individuals within the unit; recommends promotions and terminations Responsible for the review, determination, and payment authorization of claims; provides guidance to subordinates regarding general claim policy, as well as specific claims problems involving validity of policy, interpretation of policy contracts and terminology; reviews, evaluates, and settles questionable and large claims; may communicate directly with policyholders, state insurance department, and other internal and external areas Assists with the development and implementation of approved plans to support the achievement of department/division goals; leads, plans, implements, and/or participates on projects and services to support and improve existing processes and services; stays abreast of industry trends, processing technology changes, and new developments, and makes appropriate recommendations for applications to management; develops appropriate measures or standards for performance and uses these to monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve the progress and results of projects and services Ensures the timely and accurate dissemination of information, incentives, rewards, and/or recognition; ensures that appropriate documentation is developed as required by organization and/or vendor standards and methods; ensures that a current and historical library is maintained on all department/project activity, system implementation, upgrades and modifications, policies, and procedures Supervises employees within the team to ensure that quality and production goals are met; establishes priorities and schedules daily work assignments to ensure that processing/completion of requests meets established goals; assists employees with problems and questions; identifies process/procedure enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement Performs other duties as required Total Rewards The salary range for this job is $60,000 - $90,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
